Event Coverage: Musk and Tesla Motors Cater to the German Market

This is on the heels of a recent International Business Times article that Germany recorded "tepid" vehicle numbers for the first two months that Tesla has delivered cars to Europe. According to the IBT article, buyers only registered 98 Model S cars in Germany while the Netherlands recorded 348 Model S registrations and Norway received 801 Teslas in the first two months of delivery for Tesla—August and September 2013.

CarCharging' s Deal of the Century

Earlier this year, a sales manager for ECOtality blammed poor sales for the slow build out of public charging stations in the Seattle area. The DoE charging station rollout--half funded with private financing--was to provide a charging infrastructure for early adopters of EVs, it didn't hinge on electric car sales (this sales manager might be working for Ford Motors, now).

Thermal Battery Research Could Reduce Range Anxiety

In the hallway at the most recent Fox Valley Electric Auto Association (www.fveaa.org) meeting, some EV owners were discussing winter temperatures and how it might affect battery range in the coming months in Chicago. Most owners were agreement that 20 deg F or below would be the point where you could see some battery range loss, up to 7 – 10 percent.

Model X Prototype Arrives

Tesla Motors opened its newest retail store in Palo Alto, Calif. last weekend and it included the debut of the Model X SUV/Crossover. However, it does look more like a SUV now than in previous images I have seen. 

From the images in the link below, it looks the third row is cramped but that must move all the way in the back of the vehicle.

The company looks to collaborate with battery cell manufacturers, suppliers, university researchers and startups to test new battery concepts on a small scale that could be replicated for full production
