Formula Hybrid Competition: Engineering-on-the-Go
I'm a contributing writer for Automation World magazine and the Chicago-based outlet features a series called Engineering School Innovations that spotlights students doing big things with sensors, control systems and, even, electric vehicles.
Earlier this year, I documented two teams—Dartmouth and Yale, respectively—that won the electric and hybrid category at Dartmouth's 2013 International Formula Hybrid Competition. The teams start with a basic kit for the hybrid and all-electric cars and build the cars from there, aiming to pass inspection in order to race. Just two made it for the electric category, a big undertaking.
The articles will be posted very soon on Automation World but here's a sneak video preview of the winning hybrid car for the Yale Bulldogs on the track.
